Controversial Nigerian musician Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has fired back at the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) after the agency declared him wanted over serious allegations including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.

The federal agency made the announcement on Friday via its verified Instagram page, urging the public to provide any credible information on the singer’s whereabouts. In its statement, NAPTIP wrote:

“WANTED BY NAPTIP. Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington, is wanted in connection with alleged offences including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking. Anyone with credible information on his whereabouts is urged to contact NAPTIP immediately.”

NAPTIP’s move follows reports that the artist allegedly admitted during a live Instagram session to having sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl, an incident for which he was reportedly invited for questioning but did not appear.

Speaking to Saturday Beats in response to the agency’s declaration, Speed Darlington maintained a defiant tone, insisting that he has nothing to fear and describing the wanted notice as an overreach.

“Thanks for the heads up, but I’m not worried,” he said. “They have no right to declare me wanted. My lawyer has already sent it [the wanted post] to me. They just want to embarrass themselves. My lawyer will handle it.”

While legal observers note that ignoring official summons can prompt authorities to escalate matters, the outspoken singer appears undeterred by the looming controversy.

As the investigation unfolds, NAPTIP continues to appeal for public cooperation, promising to protect the identity of anyone who comes forward with credible information.
