Sean “Diddy” Combs Convicted on Two Counts in New York Sex Abuse Trial

Sean “Diddy” Combs, the renowned American music mogul and hip hop icon, has been found guilty on two prostitution-related charges in a New York federal court but acquitted of more serious allegations, including sex trafficking and racketeering.

The verdict followed a seven-week trial where two of Combs’ former girlfriends singer Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and a woman identified only as “Jane” testified that Combs physically and sexually abused them during their relationships.

Combs, 55, was convicted on the charge of transporting someone to engage in prostitution but was cleared of racketeering conspiracy and two sex trafficking counts. Avoiding conviction on the trafficking charges means he will not face the mandatory minimum 15-year sentence or potential life imprisonment.

Prosecutors alleged that Combs used his influence and business empire over two decades to coerce partners into participating in drug-fueled, multi-day sexual events with male sex workers, sometimes called “freak-offs.” Authorities also seized drugs and large quantities of baby oil and lubricants at Combs’ residences during raids.

Though Combs pleaded not guilty to all charges, his defense acknowledged past domestic violence but insisted all sexual acts were consensual. They argued that the women voluntarily engaged in these activities and suggested jealousy as a motive behind the accusations.

At trial, prosecutors presented footage showing Combs physically assaulting Ventura in 2016, while “Jane” testified to a 2024 attack and coercion into sexual acts despite her refusal.

Following the verdict, Combs’ defense requested bail pending sentencing, emphasizing this was his first conviction and related to a prostitution offense.

Cassie Ventura’s lawyer hailed her client’s bravery in testifying, stating her courage set an example in both the entertainment industry and broader justice efforts.

The US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York highlighted the enduring damage caused by sexual violence, reaffirming commitment to prosecuting offenders and supporting victims.
