Rüdiger Breaks Silence After Red Card Drama in Copa del Rey Final.

Toni Rüdiger has publicly apologised following his red card in Saturday night's fiery Copa del Rey final, where Barcelona edged out Real Madrid 3-2 in extra time.

The showdown at Estadio de La Cartuja lived up to its billing, delivering end-to-end action, late drama, and controversy. After an intense clash that spilled into extra time, the Spanish Football Federation confirmed suspensions for three Real Madrid players—Toni Rüdiger, Jude Bellingham, and Lucas Vázquez—who were all sent off in the closing stages.

Amid speculation, the federation clarified that Vinícius Jr. was not among those dismissed.

Rüdiger, taking accountability, addressed fans and officials alike in a remorseful statement:

"There’s no excuse for my behaviour last night. I’m very sorry about that, sorry to the referee."

He also reflected on the team's performance:

"We played a very good game from the 2nd half on. After 111 minutes, I was not able to help my team anymore, and before the final whistle, I made a mistake."

Barcelona's goals came from Pedri, Ferran Torres, and Jules Koundé, sealing their triumph over a determined Madrid side. Los Blancos had fought back with strikes from Kylian Mbappé and Aurélien Tchouaméni to take the game into extra time.

But it was the closing chaos—red cards, heated exchanges, and rising tempers—that grabbed headlines just as much as the football.

With suspensions now confirmed, Real Madrid will have to regroup quickly as they look ahead to the remainder of their season without some key names.
