England international expected to address long-standing injury this summer after pushing through the season with strapped shoulder.

Real Madrid and England midfielder Jude Bellingham is reportedly set to undergo surgery on his shoulder this summer, following nearly a year of managing the injury without going under the knife.

The 21-year-old has been widely praised for his relentless commitment to both club and country, playing through significant pain after dislocating his shoulder in November 2023 during a match against Rayo Vallecano. Rather than opt for surgery at the time, Bellingham continued to play with his shoulder heavily strapped, prioritizing his availability for key fixtures.

There had been discussions in Madrid about a possible procedure last summer, but with Euro 2024 on the horizon and England making a deep run into the tournament, Bellingham chose to delay treatment. As a result, he had little rest before the start of the new season with Los Blancos.

However, the shoulder issue has remained unresolved, and the discomfort has persisted throughout the campaign. According to Spanish outlet Marca, "everything points to" Bellingham finally opting for surgery in the coming weeks, as Real Madrid recognizes that this is the only definitive way to address the recurring injury.

While there’s never an ideal moment for a player to undergo surgery, the upcoming offseason may provide the best opportunity for Bellingham to recover fully and return at full strength for the next campaign — both for Real Madrid and England.
