Paris Saint-Germain are heading to the UEFA Champions League final after edging out Arsenal 2-1 on Wednesday night at the Parc des Princes, wrapping up a commanding 3-1 aggregate win in their semi-final showdown.
With a narrow 1-0 lead from the first leg, the French giants struck early to stamp their authority. Spanish midfielder Fabián Ruiz opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a thunderous long-range effort that flew past a stranded David Raya in goal.
PSG doubled their lead midway through the second half when Achraf Hakimi capped off a slick passing move to make it 2-0, effectively crushing Arsenal’s comeback hopes.
The Gunners found a lifeline in the 76th minute when Bukayo Saka pounced on a defensive mix-up to reduce the deficit. But despite a spirited push in the dying moments, Mikel Arteta’s men couldn’t muster a second goal to change their fate.
The result sends PSG into the final, where they’ll lock horns with Inter Milan, who edged Barcelona 4-3 after extra time in a pulsating second leg that sealed a 7-6 aggregate win.
Midfielder Davide Frattesi emerged the hero for Inter, netting the winner in the 99th minute, while veteran shot-stopper Yann Sommer delivered a standout performance between the sticks to see them through.
The stage is now set for a blockbuster final on May 31 at Munich’s Allianz Arena, as PSG and Inter Milan prepare to battle for European glory.
