ISTANBUL — Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen continued his red-hot form in front of goal, netting twice on Saturday as Galatasaray stormed to a 4–1 victory over Sivasspor, bringing his season tally to an incredible 33 goals — a new personal best.

The Super Eagles star, currently on loan from Napoli, has now surpassed his previous record of 31 goals scored during his title-winning 2022/23 campaign in Italy.

Saturday’s brace not only underscored Osimhen’s clinical finishing but also solidified Galatasaray’s grip on the Turkish Super Lig title race, extending their lead at the top to eight points, at least temporarily ahead of Fenerbahçe’s match on Sunday.

Two Goals, One Statement

Osimhen wasted no time making his mark in the game, slotting home his first in the 15th minute after reacting quickest to a rebound. He then doubled his tally with a well-placed shot into the top corner in the 31st minute — a textbook striker’s goal following a pinpoint cross into the box.

He nearly completed a hat-trick early in the second half, but VAR ruled out what would have been his third goal just minutes after the break.

Though all goals came in the first half, Galatasaray maintained control through the second, closing out a convincing win as they edge closer to their historic 25th league title. The Turkish giants are also preparing for the Turkish Cup final on May 14, where they’ll take on Trabzonspor.

Big Goals, Bigger Transfer Buzz

With every goal, Osimhen’s future grows even more intriguing. His loan deal with Galatasaray is set to expire soon, but Turkish media outlet TGRT Haber reports that the club is preparing a bold €60 million bid to keep him — a move that would shatter domestic transfer records.

However, sources suggest this may be part of a larger plan. Galatasaray reportedly hopes to sell Osimhen to a Saudi Pro League club within two years, potentially fetching a €100 million fee — a massive return on investment.

Meanwhile, heavyweights like Juventus, Chelsea, and Manchester United are said to be circling, closely tracking the 26-year-old’s situation as the summer transfer window approaches.

For now, Osimhen remains focused on finishing strong in Turkey — but whether he stays in Istanbul, returns to Italy, or takes his talents elsewhere, one thing is clear: his stock has never been higher.
