Simu Liu, the groundbreaking star of Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and one of the Kens in the 2023 global blockbuster Barbie, has officially put a ring on it. Liu and his partner, digital marketing executive Allison Hsu, are now engaged — and they’re celebrating in true fairytale fashion.

The couple revealed the news on Instagram Sunday in a joint post filled with love, diamonds, and Parisian charm. “Us forever,” Hsu captioned the photo series, punctuated with ring and heart emojis. The images capture the couple in the heart of Paris, a city often called the capital of romance, with the Eiffel Tower subtly sparkling in the background and a stunning diamond ring front and center.

Simu Liu shared his own heartfelt message to his 3 million followers:
“From weekends in Paris, day trips to Palm Springs, long nights on set, afternoons vegging on the couch and everything in between, I choose you forever and always.”

Hsu responded with raw joy: “I love you fiancé!!!!!!!!!!”

The two have kept their relationship relatively low-key since making their first public appearance in late 2022 at the Los Angeles premiere of Violent Night. That same month, Hsu posted a cozy photo of them on Instagram, hinting at a budding romance.

In an interview with People magazine at the time, Liu gushed about his then-girlfriend, calling her “a badass, a fighter,” and deeply passionate. “That’s a language I speak very well,” he said, adding that he was eager to see where the relationship might go. Fast forward to today — it’s headed to the altar.

Simu Liu’s rise to fame has been nothing short of meteoric. As Marvel's first Asian superhero, he broke barriers in Shang-Chi, and he continues to make waves — both on-screen and off. In a recent appearance on CBC’s Dragons’ Den, Liu sparked important conversations around cultural appropriation when he questioned the branding choices of a Canadian bubble tea startup.

Now, with a new chapter unfolding in his personal life, Liu seems to be thriving — in love and legacy.
