In a decisive move to curb cult-related violence, the Lagos State Police Command has arrested eight suspects believed to be connected to recent killings around Yaba College of Technology and nearby areas.

The arrests were made on April 29, 2025, during a carefully coordinated, intelligence-led operation carried out by the Command’s tactical units, including the Eko Strike Force. The operation led to the recovery of weapons including a Beretta pistol, four rounds of 9mm ammunition, a cartridge, two battle axes, and two cutlasses.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, those arrested include Adeyemo Abdulsamad (24), also known as Cloud, Afeez Enitan (28), Ayomide Daniel (30), Olamilekan Adeagbo (26), aka Skinny, Mayor Samson (28), Basit Ishola (20), Quadri Sikiru (26), and the only female suspect, Mariam Salihu (23).

“This was a targeted operation aimed at dismantling groups responsible for violence around YABATECH,” Hundeyin stated. “We recovered dangerous weapons and believe the suspects played key roles in recent cult clashes.”

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to uncover the full scope of the suspects' involvement. Authorities have assured the public that the suspects will be prosecuted according to the law.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, applauded the swift execution of the operation and praised the efforts of the tactical teams involved. He also called on Lagos residents to remain vigilant and share information on suspicious activities with law enforcement.

“We’re committed to making our communities safer,” CP Jimoh said. “These arrests show that we will not tolerate violence or lawlessness in any part of Lagos.”

The Lagos Police Command reaffirmed its dedication to protecting both residents and visitors, urging everyone to stay alert and work with the police in keeping the state secure.
