Juventus have backed out of the race to sign Nigeria’s star striker, Victor Osimhen, after Napoli set an eye-watering €100 million price tag on the 26-year-old. This move has opened the door for Saudi Pro League clubs, who are now reviving their pursuit of the talented forward.
Despite having tracked Osimhen for several months, the Italian giants were reportedly put off by the hefty valuation, according to Italian outlet Tuttosport. Juventus, who had shown serious interest in the Super Eagles striker, now appear to have shifted focus.
Osimhen, currently on loan at Turkish champions Galatasaray, has been in sensational form, scoring 21 goals in 25 league appearances and providing four assists. His stunning performances have only increased his value, drawing the attention of top European clubs and beyond.
This development could give Premier League side Manchester United a boost in their bid to secure the Nigerian forward. With new manager Ruben Amorim looking to address United’s ongoing goal-scoring struggles, Osimhen could be the solution to their attacking woes. The Red Devils have scored just 39 goals in the Premier League this season, leaving them among the league's lowest-scoring teams.
However, Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal have now emerged as strong contenders, with reports from Italian journalist Nicolo Schira suggesting that the club has already begun talks with Osimhen’s representatives. Al-Hilal, who already boasts high-profile players like Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Joao Cancelo, and Aleksandar Mitrovic, seems eager to add the Nigerian forward to their star-studded squad.
Osimhen’s rise to prominence began at French club Lille before he made a high-profile move to Napoli in 2020. While he has become a superstar in Italy, his relationship with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has soured in recent times, making a summer departure likely.
Premier League giants Chelsea were also previously linked with the striker, but Osimhen is thought to be keen to avoid a repeat of last season’s saga, when his hopes of a move to Stamford Bridge fell through.
Meanwhile, Manchester United is reportedly weighing other options, including Ipswich Town’s young forward Liam Delap. The 22-year-old could be available for around £30 million following Ipswich’s relegation from the Premier League, giving United a more affordable alternative.
