A baby girl, Janan Saleh al-Sakafi, has died from severe malnutrition and dehydration at Rantisi Hospital in western Gaza City, health workers confirmed. Her death marks one of the latest tragedies as Israel's ongoing blockade tightens its grip on the besieged territory.
The child’s passing comes as Israel intensifies its military campaign across the Gaza Strip, with medical sources reporting that at least 30 more Palestinians have been killed in airstrikes since dawn today.
In a separate development, Israel’s military has acknowledged launching a series of air raids inside Syria on Friday night. According to a statement, the strikes targeted military infrastructure, including anti-aircraft and missile systems, killing at least one person.
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to spiral, with the territory’s Health Ministry now reporting over 52,400 deaths and more than 118,000 injuries since the war began. The Gaza Government Media Office places the death toll even higher—over 61,700—citing thousands believed to be buried beneath rubble and presumed dead.
Israel launched its military campaign following the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023, which left an estimated 1,139 Israelis dead and saw more than 200 people taken hostage.
As global leaders face increasing pressure to address the worsening humanitarian catastrophe, families in Gaza are left mourning loved ones—with infants like Janan becoming the face of a crisis that shows no sign of easing.
