The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched an investigation into 30 individuals suspected of being involved in internet fraud, following their arrest at an alleged ‘Yahoo School’ known locally as Hustle Kingdom in Benin City, Edo State.

The suspects were apprehended by troops from the 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, who stormed the hideout and handed them over to the EFCC on Monday, April 28, 2025, for further questioning and investigation.

In a statement released on Tuesday, EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, described the location as having all the appearances of a regular computer training centre, complete with desktop computers, workstations, and digital accessories.

However, a deeper look revealed something more sinister. Investigators uncovered a separate room filled with fetish items suspected to be used for ritual practices — a disturbing twist that has become increasingly associated with online fraud training centres.

“Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the EFCC have commenced a thorough investigation into 30 suspects arrested at what appears to be a cybercrime training hub called Hustle Kingdom,” Oyewale said.

“At the time of the arrest, the facility mirrored a conventional computer school, but investigators discovered a compartment loaded with fetish materials, hinting at ritualistic undertones,” he added.

From the scene, EFCC operatives recovered a Toyota Corolla, multiple mobile phones, laptop computers, and MP3 players — all believed to be tools or proceeds of cybercrime.

The suspects are currently being interrogated and will face charges in court once investigations are concluded.

The EFCC reiterated its commitment to dismantling criminal networks and warned that those involved in cybercrime will continue to face the full weight of the law.
