Image placeholder

This weekend on Saturday Night Live, Colin Jost didn’t hold back as he took aim at former President Donald Trump during the "Weekend Update" segment — and this time, it involved a bizarre AI-generated image that’s got the internet raising its eyebrows.

“Last night, President Trump posted an AI photo of himself as the Pope,” Jost opened, deadpan. “Apparently booking a first-class ticket to hell.”

If that wasn’t wild enough, Jost reminded viewers that the image came just days after the actual Pope Francis passed away. “Who does that?” Jost asked. “Who posts themselves dressed like someone who just died a week ago?”

He took it further with a darkly funny jab: “Trump was at the Pope’s funeral. That means he looked into an open casket and thought, ‘Oh, we should do a Who Wore It Best.’”

Jost, who was raised Catholic, didn’t hide his discomfort with the whole thing. “Look, I’m Catholic. That image felt… not great,” he added. “Also, if Trump wants to be Pope so badly, maybe don’t hang around JD Vance.”

And that was just the beginning.

Co-host Michael Che took the reins with his signature dark humor, tackling Ye (Kanye West)’s latest headline. “Ye says a Beverly Hills dentist got him hooked on nitrous oxide, and it caused extreme mental distress,” Che said. “The dentist apologized, claiming he didn’t realize the tank was set to Nazi.

Jost, reacting to the groans from the crowd, added, “We’re finding the line.”

Che followed up with another zinger about Trump impersonating a transgender weightlifter during a graduation speech in Alabama. “Which is a sentence so dumb, even the University of Alabama wouldn’t accept it,” he joked.

Jost kept the momentum going with a chilling joke about a missing U.S. fighter jet that crashed into the ocean. “Thankfully, there’s no one at the bottom of the ocean who could use a plane—Oh, God,” he said, revealing an image of Osama bin Laden.

As if the room wasn’t tense enough, Che delivered one final jaw-dropper: “It’s the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. Also turning 50? A lot of half-white Vietnamese kids.”

The crowd groaned yet again, but Che just grinned and shrugged. “We’re on a roll.”
