British Paralympian Sam Ruddock Missing in Las Vegas Since April 16
British Paralympian Sam Ruddock, 35, has been reported missing after failing to make contact with friends and family for over a week. The athlete, known for his achievements in cycling and shot put, was last heard from on April 16 while visiting Las Vegas.
Ruddock, who arrived in the United States on April 13, had planned to attend the city's renowned WrestleMania event. His friend, Lucy Earl, confirmed he stayed with her the night before his departure, and it was known that he had landed in Nevada. However, after April 16, he abruptly stopped communicating.
“He flew on the 13th, and I know for sure he was in Vegas, but he went silent from the 16th, and since Sam is a prominent figure on social media, people quickly noticed,” Earl said.
Ruddock, a Paralympic athlete who represented Great Britain in both the 2012 and 2016 Paralympic Games, has cerebral palsy. His disappearance has raised significant concern, especially given his usual online presence.
Authorities in both the United Kingdom and the United States have been notified of Ruddock’s disappearance. British Cycling, in a statement, urged anyone with information or who has been in contact with Ruddock since April 16 to reach out to local police.
The Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) also confirmed it is providing support to Ruddock's family during this difficult time.
Ruddock, originally from Warwickshire, is a well-respected figure in the Paralympic sports community, and his sudden disappearance has left many worried about his safety.
