One of Nigeria’s brightest attacking talents, Ademola Lookman, is once again in the spotlight — and this time, it’s Atlético Madrid making moves to secure his signature. The Spanish heavyweights have officially entered the race to sign the red-hot Atalanta forward, setting the stage for a blockbuster summer transfer.
Lookman, a key figure for both club and country, is under contract with Atalanta until June 2027, but reports suggest the Super Eagles star could be on his way out of Bergamo at the end of the season. But Atlético aren't the only major club circling.
Premier League interest is heating up, with Manchester United — expected to be led by incoming manager Rúben Amorim — reportedly prioritizing Lookman as part of their attacking overhaul. Other English giants including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle, Tottenham, and Aston Villa are also said to be monitoring the situation closely.
Meanwhile, over in Spain, Barcelona have been linked to the Nigerian star as well, though financial constraints could complicate their ability to match Atalanta's demands.
For Lookman, a return to England or a move to La Liga would mark the next step in a remarkable journey. From the youth ranks of Charlton to spells at Everton, Fulham, and Leipzig, the Lagos-born winger has grown into one of Africa’s most consistent performers in Europe.
