Lagos, Nigeria – Nigerian music maverick and self-styled Soundgod, Runtown, has officially announced the release date for his much-anticipated new album—June 6, 2025. The project, part of his evolving Soundgod Fest series, marks a significant return for the genre-defining star.

This will be Runtown’s fourth project under the Soundgod banner, arriving nearly three years after his last album, Signs, which marked a quiet exit from the limelight and a hiatus that left fans guessing.

True to his character, Runtown has opted to let the music speak first. The rollout began late last year with ‘Flow’ in December 2024, followed by ‘Do Me’ in April 2025—two tracks that signal a steady return to form. With mellow rhythms and sharp songwriting, the singles suggest an artist reflecting more, speaking less, and refining a sound that has always leaned more on depth than hype.

His latest work is shaping up to be a sonic continuation of his signature style—equal parts minimalism and melody. Thematically, the new songs tread familiar ground: luxury, solitude, vulnerability, and the quiet confidence that has always set Runtown apart.

Since breaking into the mainstream with early hits like ‘Gallardo’ featuring Davido, and ‘Bend Down Pause’ with Wizkid, Runtown has refused to chase trends. Instead, he’s carved out his lane—most memorably with the 2017 classic ‘Mad Over You’, a track that’s still considered one of Afrobeats’ most enduring records of the past decade.

The upcoming album is expected to reinforce Runtown’s rare ability to create timeless music while staying largely out of the spotlight.

With Afrobeats continuing to expand its global footprint, Runtown’s June 6 release will be closely watched—not just by fans, but by an industry eager to see how the Soundgod evolves in a faster, louder musical landscape.

But if history is any guide, Runtown isn’t here to compete. He’s here to remind.
