Miami Bureau - More than 30 people were pulled to safety after a luxury yacht began sinking off the coast of Miami Beach late Saturday afternoon, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The dramatic rescue unfolded around 5 p.m. near Flagler Monument Island, a small, man-made landmark nestled among some of South Florida’s most exclusive real estate—surrounded by Hibiscus, Palm, and Star Islands, where celebrities and high-net-worth individuals often reside.
In total, 32 individuals were rescued from the 63-foot yacht, which had partially submerged by the time help arrived. Images released by the Coast Guard show panicked passengers, many donning life jackets, huddled together on the vessel as it tilted heavily forward, its bow still visible above the waterline.
Swift Response by Multiple Agencies and Civilians
Rescue efforts were supported by a coordinated response from several local agencies, including units from Miami Beach Police, City of Miami Fire Rescue, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), and several Good Samaritan boaters who were nearby and rushed to help.
Thanks to the quick response, no injuries were reported, and all passengers were safely returned to shore. The vessel is currently undergoing recovery, and the FWC has taken the lead in investigating the incident.
A $4 Million ‘Lamborghini of the Sea’?
While officials have not yet confirmed the yacht’s model, dispatch recordings and eyewitnesses described it as resembling a “Lamborghini vessel.” Social media accounts dedicated to high-end watercraft, including Yachts Worldwide, have since identified the boat as a Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63—a futuristic $4 million yacht inspired by the iconic sports car brand.
Footage posted online shows emergency crews navigating around the half-submerged vessel as onlookers watch from nearby boats.
Questions Remain
Authorities have not released further details about what caused the yacht to sink, or whether it was being operated commercially or privately at the time of the incident.
Investigators from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are expected to review weather conditions, mechanical issues, and passenger logs as part of their ongoing inquiry.
